Frequently Asked Questions

What's the big deal about "copyright compliance?"

Copyright laws are in place to protect the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, musicians and anyone else that owns the rights to something they have created.  Copyright protection provides both intellectual and financial incentive to those who create and publish the kinds of information that we at BioDox retrieve for our clients.  Take away or undermine that incentive, and the quantity and quality of published knowledge would soon be diminished to the detriment of all.

BioDox is a member of the Copyright Clearance Center's Transactional Reporting Service.  BioDox also engages in direct licensing with publishers.  Document requests are filled in compliance with copyright law and copyright fees will be charged as incurred, per CCC or license guidelines. In the event that a rights holder is not registered with the CCC, or has not granted a license to BioDox, permission can be sought directly from the publisher or rights holder.

What is your turnaround time?

Most requests submitted by our clients are sourced the day they are submitted, and generally sent out for retrieval the next business day.  Highly competitive Rush and Super-Rush services are available to further reduce turnaround times if required.  (Note: Office hours Monday through Friday 8AM - 5PM CST.)

What if a request is delayed or must be rejected?

Rapid sourcing and retrieval means that clients know very quickly when there may be a problem with a request.  Both rejects and unexpected delays are communicated to clients at the earliest opportunity.  BioDox does not charge for unfilled requests.

Can customers set "maximum cost" limits?

Our clients routinely set maximum cost limits when establishing an account.  Our staff will notify any client when total estimated costs will exceed this limit.  In the unlikely event that an order exceeding cost limits continues without authorization, BioDox will absorb all fees in excess of the cost limit.
